If you like cheese, you like peas, you'll love Cheezy Peaz!

Paneer is now widely available in supermarkets and is a bit like halloumi in that it stays together when you cook it, so if you fry it in spices it will collect them like tofu would

And if you're a fan of The Fast Show you'll get that what sounded like a disgusting joke is absolutely brilliaaaannntttt!

Method

Heat the oil and fry the whole cumin, fennel seeds and mustard seeds for 30 seconds then add the onion. Fry gently until the onion is soft

Add the garlic and ginger and continue frying for another minute or so, then add the ground spices and dried mint and fry for another minute

Add the cheese and stir it round until it picks up all of the spices.

Add the peas and a little water so there is a bit of sauce and the peas can steam for few minutes with the lid on over a medium-high heat

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seend
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed or grated
  • A piece of ginger - about the size of your thumb, finely sliced into little batons
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • a pack of paneer cut into cubes
  • about a mugful of frozen peas
